Inktober is a month-long art challenge that takes place every October, created by artist Jake Parker. The idea is simple: one ink drawing a day for 31 days. There’s an official prompt list each year to spark creativity, but artists are free to follow their own themes or just do their own thing.
It’s all about showing up, making art consistently, and having fun with it. While it started as a traditional ink-only challenge, it’s now grown to include digital art, color, mixed media, and just about any way you want to express yourself.
Each year, I like to pick my own theme to run with—it keeps things fresh and personal, and gives me a chance to explore a specific idea or vibe throughout the month. Sometimes it’s spooky, sometimes it’s silly, sometimes it’s all over the place (in the best way).
Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just starting out, Inktober is a great excuse to stretch your creative muscles and be part of a global community of makers.
